Watchout! Peels in the Fall

This season yielded a healthy crop of peels. They thrive in the fall months because they can blend in with the leaves and banana slugs on the ground. Keep your eyes peeled, lest you slip and fall!

From the debris around this partial peel, I suspect a Tasmanian devil.

Watchout: Catching up with the Peel Patrol

: Jan. 21, 8:52 PM. A Tuesday night, so I was probably at trader joe’s, just before closing time.

: Jan. 23, 6:56 PM. From the time of this snapshot, I speculate that this relatively fresh specimen was probably eaten as a late afternoon snack, possibly in the Civic Center area, where there are lots of busy people on the go.

: Spotted Saturday, Jan 25, at 2:41 PM, either in the Mission or in Oakland. Its unnatural shape suggests that this peel was dropped by a passing cyclist with little regard for sharing the road with pedestrians!

: Jan 29, 8:33 AM. Spotted in the usual Point Lobos hotspot, 41st and Clement.

: Jan 31, 5:16 PM, 40th and Geary.

: Jan 30, 7:31 AM. I was early for work and spotted this sneaky specimen at the 38 Geary bus stop, at Point Lobos.

Spotted in Berkeley on Sacramento St. near Hopkins, May 17, 10:23 PM. Appears to have been dropped on the run. Could this be connected to the recent reports of a bellowing simian creature in the area?
